This year’s Wedding Cake Trends

Without a doubt, one of my favorite wedding day details is the wedding cake! I would be lying if I said I didn’t look forward to sneaking a slice of these beautiful towering masterpieces!

Today, I have a sweet guest on the blog! Laura, with Laura Marie’s. Laura is an incredibly talented artist whose masterpieces leave me in awe every time I see them. Cakes are no longer just a homemade boxed caked with frosting slapped on top by aunt Betty. They’re a huge part of the wedding day’s details, and they have their own style and story, just like the rest of the day! With that said, I wanted Laura to chime in on her favorite trends in cakes she is whipping up this year.

Traditional Modern

The words that come to mind for this cake are elegant, sophisticated and timeless. The beautiful floral detail on this cake is just incredible, and YES, those are sugar flowers! The subtle patterned detail on the top tier ties in the classic white cake with a touch of modern elegance. 

                                                  Modern  Henna 

Grand in scale and full of detail. The henna detail makes this cake unique all on its own and the bold florals help tell the story of the culture surrounded by this cake. Modern Elegance in true form!

 

 

Watercolor 

This whimsical watercolor cake has just the right amount of detail in the perfect places. The soft peach, pink, yellow, and green tones depict a romantic garden style wedding. The entire vibe is reminiscent of a storybook fairytale wedding.

Modern

Just as the name says, modern and straight lines make this the perfect choice for the bride that wants to live on the edge. The bold navy blue just pops on this cake and the light pink sugar flowers soften it up just enough.

Geode

 

My personal favorite type of cake! I don’t know what it is that makes me love this cake so much. Maybe it’s the amount of intricate detail that keeps me staring at it for hours wondering, “How did she do that!?” The geode wedding cake is the kind of cake that your guest will awe over for hours on your wedding and Laura perfects this beauty perfectly!
