You just got engaged! Congratulations! Grandma’s been called, your relationship status has been updated on Facebook, announcements have been sent…now what?…now, it’s time to get to work! From experience as a Temecula Engagement and Wedding Photographer, I know how quickly we book up. I try and stress to my potential brides that interviewing and booking your photographer truly should be one of the early tasks checked off that mile-long to-do list you will inevitably develop.
While this session is super exciting and a great opportunity to add to the collection of sweet images of you two love-birds, don’t forget the practicality and importance of this pivotal session. It is essentially an in-depth “meet and greet” for you and your photography team. We like to treat this session as a trial run for your big day! John and I love to get to know our couples and their unique personalities during their sessions, plus, we all develop an open line of communication!
Another big reason why these engagement sessions are so important is that it allows you the opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera. The days of perfectly posed sessions are long gone, the age of a more organically candid style has been ushered in. When it comes to candid sessions such as these, being comfortable in front of the camera is paramount! I promise, if you feel stiff and uncomfortable, RELAX, we got this! This is where we shine. John and I know how it can feel to be in front of that camera. At one time we were uncomfortable ourselves posing for someone else. This led us to step back and take a look at how we engage with our couples. We have put in an extensive amount of time developing a posing system that you and your fiance will leave feeling great about. Because we all know how much the guys enjoy pictures! (not really) Most of our couples say things like “That was so easy and fun!” or “I thought this was going to so hard and I wasn’t as nervous as I thought I would be!” Engagement sessions are the perfect opportunity to become more familiar with how being in front of a camera feels, which will allow us as photographers to capture far more effortless looking images!
