Getting engaged to your prince charming is such a wonderful, exciting moment! Let the wedding planning begin! Soon-to-be brides are always faced with the hard decision of choosing the number of bridesmaids you will have. I am always hearing the question pop up, “How many bridesmaids should I have in my wedding?” This is often a question that leaves us ladies pondering all hours of the night. Here are the top 5 things to consider when deciding on the perfect number of bridesmaids.
1. Size of Wedding
If you are having a large wedding with over 200 guests, it is typical for the wedding party to consist of 6 to 10 bridesmaids. However, if you are having a more intimate wedding, you can definitely get away with having less.
2. Budget
Consider your budget when choosing the number of bridesmaids you plan to have. If you plan on buying gifts, booking a stylist, or purchasing dresses for each of your bridesmaids, that can get pretty costly. Having a smaller wedding party means that you will most likely spend less money.
3. Ceremony Site
Be sure to look at the size of the your ceremony site. You want to ensure that all of your bridesmaids will fit next to you at the altar.
4. Logistics
Having bridesmaids means buying dresses! Do you want your bridesmaids wearing the same exact dress? If so, consider going with a smaller bridal party. Identical dresses can be extremely difficult to pull off on a large number of women. Getting the perfect size for each of your bridesmaids can be a daunting task. If you want a large wedding party, consider your each of your bridesmaids wearing a different dress.
5. Relationships
A lot of times, brides feel super obligated to have certain people in their wedding. For example, they may have been in their sister-in-law’s wedding, and feel like they should return the gesture. However, this should not be the case. You should feel free with inviting your closest girls to be by your side. Try not to let others influence you. After all, it is your wedding!
