Long Beach California Gondola Getaway Intimate Elopement.
When the call came in from Janet asking if I can photograph her elopement super last minute, I was able to accommodate her due to an appointment that fell though. John and I were super excited because we were quickly finding out that this was not going to be your ordinary wedding. Janet and Andrew had the unique idea to have their wedding ceremony on a Gondola ride across Long Beach’s Naples Canals. How cool is that?! We had 2 private Gondolas filled with about 15 people each and our very own ‘Gondolier’ (I think that’s what they’re called). The guys at Gondola Getaway were very nice and great hosts. We were stocked with wine and some light snacks and off we went. We wanted to make the most of our 2 hour time with this sweet couple, so we snuck off to Naples Canals residential area and got some great images of the two of them before the ceremony. Shhh.. don’t tell anybody. Can you believe that the images on the tan wall were shot in an alleyway? You just need a little creativity and a couple with lots of love to give and you can make the most out of any setting.
Now back to my couple… So I asked the burning question when we go back to the dock; Why an elopement so last minute? Janet’s reply was “My dad asked if I wanted money towards a wedding or for a down payment on a house”. She replied happily, “I wanted the HOUSE!” So there you have it. We were very happy to have met them and share in such a unique and special day, even if it was only for a few hours. We wish them all best as newlyweds! Oh, before I forget, thank you both for providing 2 ‘firsts’ for us as well!
1. Photographing on the edge of a Gondola and 2, being our first elopement!
