Love images filled with pure emotions and memories that will last a lifetime? You may want to put some thought into how to help your bridesmaids help you capture swoon-worthy getting ready images. Yes, of course, the bulk of your wedding photos will be captured during the ceremony and reception of your wedding day. However, the hours leading up to those events are just as important for the storytelling process of capturing your special day. While you and all your bridesmaids are getting ready for those grand events, emotions are running extremely high – anticipation, excitement, love – and all of these emotions and energy can result in some amazingly beautiful getting ready photographs.
In this post, we’ll be discussing my number one tip for your bridesmaids that will allow you to have swoon-worthy getting-ready images as well as how to accomplish this tip and why it’s so important.
Tips to Capture Those Perfect Images
First off, the number one tip for your bridesmaids to achieve the best getting-ready images is to have your bridesmaids get ready BEFORE you put on your gown. Now, I know what you’re thinking….Having a group of girls all ready in time, and at the same time, is a great challenge and nearly impossible. But you don’t want to risk allowing hair and make-up to run late because it’ll push every other planned event back as well, and being ready early will allow for some relaxation time, rather than rushed and frantic emotions before the ceremony.Therefore, having a getting-ready timeline will be greatly beneficial. This way, everyone is on the same page and knows the plan. If yourself and all your bridesmaids are having their hair and make-up professionally done, about four hours should be scheduled for hair and make-up, and each detail of the process (as far as who’s hair and makeup is getting done and at what times) needs to be planned in a timeline format.
We usually arrive about an hour before you are ready, so we can capture the “finishing touches” images of you getting ready. This will also allow the photographer time to capture those little details that you worked so hard to plan, such as the bouquets, the rings, the gowns, the jewelry, etc.
There are such beautiful images to be captured during the getting-ready process. This is the photographer’s chance to capture some amazingly gorgeous shots of you and your closest girls caringly and lovingly helping their beautiful friend get ready for her big, special day. I absolutely love bridesmaids’ images that capture them all helping the bride get into her gown, for instance.
A Variety of Images Should be Captured
Another great getting ready image may include the bridesmaids fixing the bride’s hair, helping her slide on her garter, and fluffing her gown. Then once all the bridesmaids are satisfied with everything, capturing them standing with awe as they admire the lovely bride for the first time, all ready for the big moment, is such a rewarding and amazing feeling and moment. Since the bridesmaids are such a big part of these getting-ready images, it is so important that they are dressed and ready for these photos to create the best results.
So when you’re planning out your getting-ready process and images, be sure to have your bridesmaids ready BEFORE you (the bride), and you’ll be so overwhelmingly happy with the gorgeous images that result! After all, your bridesmaids are the girls that you are closest to in your life and couldn’t imagine this day without. It’s important that we make the most of the getting-ready process and capture all the pure emotions felt leading up to, and while getting ready for, such a precious and special day of yours.
